1 Working with the Scottish Executive
- SEN Manual of Good Practice (Membership of the Advisory Committee and provided written contribution on the Parent perspective and editorial support overall)
- Riddell Committee: Review of Provision for children with low-incidence disabilities in Scotland
2 Supported by the Scottish Executive
- "Supporting bilingual children with SLI and their parents" (Partnership with Glasgow Education and Yorkhill SLT Service)( Conference/training/ support materials (videos))
- Distribution of Afasic Glossary Sheets to every school in Scotland.
- "Understanding and Supporting children with Dyspraxia:DCD in early years"(Guidance to every nursery and primary school - follow up evaluation).
- "Raising Awareness of Dyspraxia DCD": a three year project in partnership with the Dyspraxia Foundation in Scotland (led by Afasic Scotland).
- Conference "New Voices New Language" to consider the implications of SLI in Secondary and develop and Action Plan.
- "Language and Literacy: joining Together – an early years training package"
- "Promoting Positive Partnership with Parents" (partnerships with local authorities and NHS services) (Partners, Dundee, East Dunbartonshire and North Ayrshire).
- "Exploring Participation by Young People with Speech, Language and Communication Impairments in the educational decision making process."
- "Collaborative Professional Development to Support Pupils with Developmental Disorders: A staff development course for education and health professionals." (with Strathclyde University and 2 Local Authorities)
- "Guidance for including young people with SLI in Secondary School" (Partnership with Edinburgh City Education)

3 Other activities include:
- Development of an Adult Oracy Toolkit for Dundee Community Learning programme and training for staff (2007).
- The Scottish version of the I Can Early Talk self-study programme (The ASL Act -Context in Scotland - Past, Present and Future developments in Speech, Language and Communication Needs).
4 Training
Afasic Scotland is Registered Provider of CPD for Teachers in Scotland. Last year (2007) the programme included Study Days on:

- Exploring Developmental Co-ordination Disorder and How to help children with DCD:Dyspraxia

Afasic Scotland also provides information, training and support to parents and carers of children with speech and language impairments in Scotland and was involved in the training of the first staff in Enquire.
