Afasic primarily supports parents of children and young people with SLI and/or SLCN and you will find plenty of information and resources on this website.
Our aim is to enable parents to access information, knowledge and services to help you be a better advocate for your children.
Afasic supports parents across Scotland. One of the most powerful ways you can find support is via our network of parents, many of whom have had similar experiences and can offer a wealth of knowledge and support. It is often a relief to share the ups and downs of parenting children with SLI/SLCN.
We offer peer support through local groups, and through our Facebook group and Facebook page and you can also sign up for our mail outs.
The website can be used for information and guidance, the parent and peer support is there when and if needed and we also have opportunities for parents to act as local volunteers and ambassadors for SLI/SLCN if they are so inclined.
We have a Training Team which works across Scotland and delivers awareness training on SLI and SLCN – we are always looking for volunteer trainers if there is anyone out there who thinks they would like to become involved.
We want to offer the best service that we can, and we are keen to hear your views on what you need and any suggestions of how to improve the website, the information or your experience of Afasic….let us know.
