The ASL Act
HOW IS THE ACT WORKING ? HAS SUPPORT IMPROVED? ARE SERVICES WORKING WELL TOGETHER/ WHAT IS IT MEANING FOR YOUR CHILD? HAVE YOU USED MEDIATION? HAVE YOU HAD CONTACT WITH THE TRIBUNAL?
The Scottish Executive has evaluated the impact of the Act using teams of Inspectors (HMIE) in each local authority area and their Report on the implementation of the Education (Additional Support for Learning) (Scotland) Act 2004 was published in 2007.
Afasic Scotland is continuing to monitor the impact of the Act on children with speech and language impairments and the effect of other changes in e.g. the work of Health Visitors and Speech and Language Therapists. At this site you can download copies of the Act, the new code of practice and sections of the new training resource "Supporting Children's Learning" which has been distributed by the Scottish Executive across Scotland.
