Afasic in Edinburgh Afasic Edinburgh is a local support group for parents of children and
young adults with speech, language or communication impairments. All
are welcome, from the City of Edinburgh and the wider Lothian Region.
We also welcome teachers, speech and language therapists, and other professionals. Our evening meetings are a chance to share information and meet other people in a similar situation. Our family events are a chance to bring the children together for some fun - siblings too.
We would like to invite you to join us at one of our meetings. If you haven't been before, we will make you very welcome.
NEXT MEETING
The Group meets informally at the Yard Adventure Centre in the centre of Edinburgh between 6.00pm and 8.00pm on the first Thursday of every month in term-time. The Yard website (which gives directions) is http://www.theyardscotland.org.uk

Afasic Edinburgh is keen to welcome new people. As parents we know how important it is to meet other parents and carers who understand our concerns and are dealing with the same issues - or have been there already and can help us to understand what lies ahead. A special invitation is extended to parents of younger children to come along and build new networks for parents and families. You can help us by joining Afasic: the more members we have, the more our voice will be heard. To join Afasic and receive the UK-wide newsletter costs £15 a year for a family/professional. You can join online using the link on the home page. Parent members are entitled to a reduced fee for Afasic Scotland training days. We don't have a local subscription: you can join our local mailing list free of charge. We ask for a voluntary contribution of £1 when you come to a speaker evening to help cover costs.
